The new releases Uri The Surgical Strike and The Accidental Prime Minister struck gold at the box office on the opening day. Both the films had generated enormous excitement before the release, so the collections are along the lines of expectations.
As per the box office reports, Uri The Surgical Strike earned 8.20 crore on its first Friday whereas The Accidental Prime Minister earned 4.50 crore. Both the films have a limited number of screens as they do not feature any big name.
The box office collection of Uri The Surgical Strike is as follows:
Friday (Day 1): ₹ 8.20 cr
Total: ₹ 8.20 cr
Because of the political nature of the films, English media critics have given poor ratings to both films. However, the word of mouth publicity is extremely positive for them. Hindi movies usually find very few takers in southern states of India, but these two movies are running almost houseful despite facing tough competition from local releases. Looking at the box office trend, it seems that films will become profitable ventures for their makers as the budget of both movies is less than 30 crore.
The box office collection of The Accidental Prime Minister is as follows:
Friday (Day 1): ₹ 4.50 cr
Total: ₹ 4.50 cr
