Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha topped the Chinese box office in its opening weekend, but it lost its hold at the ticket counters after 3 days. The downtrend continued during the weekdays and it could not get any momentum even during long Chinese weekend.
As per the box office reports, the film collected 100.18 crores ($ 14.52 M) in the Chinese market because Indian rupee is trading at its lowest value. The lifetime collection would have stopped at 94-95 crores, but the trade war between US and China has pushed Indian rupee close to 69. Depreciating Rupee is definitely not a good sign for the country, but Toilet Hero scored century because of depreciation. The movie was affected because of Jurassic Park’s release in its second week, otherwise, it would have gone to 150+ crores in its lifetime. Effectively, the film got just one weak in the Chinese market, so it could not score more. TEPK has become the first film of Akshay Kumar which grossed 300+ crores worldwide.
The box office collection of the film is as follows:
Week 1: ₹ 92.30 Cr [$ 13.35 M]
Week 2: ₹ $ 6.70 Cr [$ 1 M]
Week 3: ₹ 1.18 Cr [$ 0.17 M]
Total: ₹ 100.18 Cr [$ 14.52 M]
