Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer love story Toilet: Ek Prem Katha started on a high note on Friday. Though the occupancy in the morning shows was about 25-30%, it picked up in the evening and as a result of that, the film could post a decent total on its opening day. It should be noted that the film is riding on tremendous pre-release buzz because of Akshay Kumar’s meeting with PM Narendra Modi and PM himself had appreciated the film.
As per the box office reports, the film amassed 13.10 crores on first Friday. The story of the film is based on rural India, so this kind of opening is definitely a big positive for the film.

The opening in big multiplexes was not great during morning shows, otherwise, it would have crossed 15 crores figure. However, in multiplexes, the occupancy improved in the evening shows because of positive word of mouth publicity. The movie is enjoying an excellent occupancy in tier-II cities and rural areas in north India, so it has enough potential to cross 50 crores in first weekend. Monday and Tuesday are holidays in India, which means the film may cross 100 crores figure in the very first week.
