Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu starrer Soorma could not perform at the box office according to its potential because the film is missing a big known face. The film got appreciations from both critics and moviegoers, but those good words did not convert into business in the first week.
As per the box office reports, the film earned 21.21 crores in its first week which is an average collection. Although it will be able to recover its cost in its lifetime, a big name would have definitely helped it at the box office.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first-week box office collection of the film on Twitter. “#Soorma biz is not in sync with its merits… Was steady [on the lower side] on weekdays… Will have to stay strong in Weekend 2… Fri 3.20 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 5.60 cr, Mon 2 cr, Tue 1.94 cr, Wed 1.77 cr, Thu 1.65 cr. Total: ₹ 21.21 cr. India biz.“, he wrote.
The film will lose a large percentage of its screens to new release Dhadak, so it would be interesting to see how does it fare in the second week when the competition will be more intense. The budget of the film is about 25 crores; it needs to remain steady in the second week to have a decent theatrical business in its lifetime.
The box office collection of the film is as follows:
Friday (Day 1): ₹ 3.20 cr
Saturday (Day 2): ₹ 5.05 cr
Sunday (Day 3): ₹ 5.60 cr
Monday (Day 4): ₹ 2.00 cr
Tuesday (Day 5): ₹ 1.94 cr
Wednesday (Day 6): ₹ 1.77 cr
Thursday (Day 7): ₹ 1.65 cr
Total: ₹ 21.21 cr
