Ranbir Kapoor and Rajkumar Hirani’s latest movie Sanju continued its dream run on weekdays to score a humongous total in the second week. Although the film had already crossed 60 crores mark in the second weekend, it missed another century by a few crores. The juggernaut of the movie at the box office is just unstoppable and the collection is along the lines of all time blockbuster movies.
As per the box office reports, the film amassed 92.67 crores in the second week to take its total domestic box office collection to 295.18 crores after 14 days. The trade pundits have already given ‘All Time Blockbuster‘ tag to the film, but its lifetime collection has not yet reached. The film is still running in 2100 screens, so another massive weekend is on cards.
Sharing the latest box office figures of Sanju on Twitter, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “#Sanju is chasing a BIG TOTAL… Showed SOLID TRENDING in Week 2… All set to enter ₹ 300 cr Club in Weekend 3… [Week 2] Fri to Sun ₹ 62.97 cr, Mon to Thu ₹ 29.70 cr. Total: ₹ 295.18 cr. India biz… Week 3: 2100+ screens.”
Sanju will dethrone Padmaavat (₹302.15 cr) from numero uno position in the list of top grossers of 2018 on third Saturday and may become the fifth all time biggest grosser by the end of the third weekend. The film is now chasing the lifetime collection of Dangal (₹387.31). If it could maintain the momentum in the third weekend, we might see first 400 crore Bollywood movie. There is no big release for a few weeks which will boost its lifetime collection.
This is a testament to Ranbir Kapoor’s stardom and Rajkumar Hirani’s ability to make films with mass appeal that the audiences are flocking to watch this film in its third week. Sanju is just another success in Hirani’s flawless career.
