Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Raksha Bandhan had a below-average opening at the Indian box office on Thursday. Despite being a holiday release, the film could not find many takers at the ticket windows. Although the film faces competition from another big release, Lal Singh Chadda, in metros, it should have had a decent opening. It seems that all Bollywood movies will fail at the box office this year. Except for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and The Kashmir Files, none of the Bollywood releases of 2022 have done a HIT business at the box office. Raksha Bandhan has received positive reviews from critics and moviegoers, but will those positive words convert into business? The film has a long weekend to recover its lost ground as there is a national holiday on the 15th of August. It would be good for the makers if the collection could go up in the remaining four days of the weekend. Per our estimates, the film should collect 45-50 crores in its extended weekend and 65-75 crores in its lifetime.
Raksha Bandhan is a Bollywood comedy-drama film directed by Aanand L. Rai and jointly written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dhillon. The film is produced by Zee Studios, Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films. It stars Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Smrithi Srikanth, and Deepika Khanna.
