Like other new releases, Rajkummar Rao’s latest film Newton remained dull on its opening day. The film does not feature any big star and that could be one of the reasons for such opening collection. It has been nominated as the official Oscar entry from India, so this news might help it in long run.
As per the box office reports, the film collected 96 lakhs on first Friday. The reports suggest that the film witnessed a good jump in the occupancy in the evening and night shows, which means it might cross 5 crores in the first weekend.

The film has an excellent word of mouth and has received appreciations from all types of moviegoers, so it can follow the path of other low budget movies. Anyhow, it needs a big boost on both Saturday and Sunday to put a smile on makers’ face.
