Despite enormous hype, Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer Liger (Hindi) had an average opening on Friday. From the trailer, it was obvious that the film did not offer viewers anything new; it’s the same old story with new characters. The film has been produced by Karan Johar, so it is natural to get media attention. Still, the film could not convert all the hype into business. Like most Bollywood releases in 2022, Liger is also struggling to attract moviegoers to the theaters. It seems that the collection during the weekend will remain flat as critics and the audience have given mixed reviews. From such an average opening, it definitely needs a miracle to recover its total cost. If a miracle does not happen, it will soon join the league of flop Bollywood movies of 2022. Per our estimate, it should collect 13-15 crores in its first weekend and 20-25 crores in its lifetime.
Liger is a 2022 Indian sports action film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. Dharma Productions and Puri Connects have produced the film. Vijay Deverakonda stars as the titular MMA fighter alongside Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishna, and Ronit Roy in pivotal roles. American boxer Mike Tyson plays an extended cameo, making his acting debut in Indian cinema. Liger was released theatrically on 25 August 2022.
