Saif Ali Khan’s black comedy film Kaalakaandi turned out a huge disaster at the box office in the opening weekend. In the first 3 days of the opening week, the film could not surpass even 5 crores in the domestic box office. Although there were many releases on Friday, Kaalakaandi was expected to do better than its competitors because of the presence of Saif Ali Khan.
As per the box office reports, the film collected 3.85 crores in the opening weekend. The daily collection of the film in its first week is as follows: Fri 1.25 cr, Sat 1.20 cr, Sun 1.40 cr.

Kaalakaandi tracks the story of a man (played by Saif) who is diagnosed with cancer and how he utilizes his remaining days. Kaalakaandi released with Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz and Vikram Bhatt’s 1921. Apart from Saif, Kaalakaandi also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Amyra Dastur and Akshay Oberoi. The weekend collection insinuates that the collection during weekdays is going to be less than 50 lakhs and the film might find it hard to reach even 7 crores in its lifetime.
