After performing superbly in the first week, SRK’s one of the most anticipated film Dilwale bombed at the domestic box office in the second week. Despite holidays, the movie couldn’t get enough footfalls to post a decent collection in the second week. The drop in the collection was about 70% compared to the first week because of its poor content and poor-to-average rating by the moviegoers.
As per the box office reports, the film garnered about 31 crores in the second week to take its total domestic box office collection to 127 crores (126.75 cr) after 14 days. The daily collection during weekdays was 2-3 crores which indicates that the earning might remain on the lower side even in the 3rd weekend. Also, its competitor Bajirao Mastani outperformed it in the domestic market and is giving tough fight in the international market. As Shahrukh Khan is a bigger star than Ranveer Singh, Dilwale was expected to do better business in both domestic and overseas markets. But it might be possible that the overall lifetime collection of both the films will be same because Bajiraro Mastani will take at least 30-35 crores lead over Dilwale in the domestic market. Diwale might not touch even 150 crore whereas Bajirao Mastani is heading towards 175-180 crores in the domestic market.
