After posting a good total in the first weekend, SRK’s Dilwale witnessed a sharp decline in the collection during weekdays due to poor-to-average rating by moviegoers and the stiff competition posed by Bajirao Mastani. Dilwale was expected to have a better opening than Bajirao Mastani due to the presence of the big stars, but it lost the box office battle during weekdays as its competitor got better rating by the moviegoers.
As per the box office reports, the first week collection of the movie is 97-102 crores. Some reports say that it didn’t hit a century (97 crores) in the first week while some reports suggest it crossed 100 crores (102.65 crores). Whether it’s 97 or 102.65, the collection is really superb as it was not a solo release and it has a tough fight with the film directed by one of the best Indian directors ‘Sanjay Leela Bhansali’. Like its competitor, its collection will be impacted in the metros by the Hollywood biggie Star Wars. Also, it has lost the box office battle to its competitor during weekdays, so the collection might be less than the expected figure. The next big Bollywood movie will hit the theaters on 8th Jan, so Dilwale has enough days left to post a decent total as the lifetime collection.
