Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrer Dhadak got a dream start at the box office on Friday. The film has got average+ ratings from movie critics and word of mouth is also positive. So, it witnessed about 27% jump in the collection on Saturday.
As per the box office reports, the film amassed 11.04 crores on first Saturday to take its total domestic box office collection to 19.75 crores after 2 days. The film is a remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat and Karan Johar is the producer, so such collections are not unexpected. The film should easily cross 30 crores mark in its first weekend, but the trend on weekdays will tell its lifetime prospect.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the film’s second-day business figures.”#Dhadak witnesses SIGNIFICANT GROWTH on Day 2… Growth on Sat [vis-à-vis Fri]: 26.75%… Sun biz expected to be higher than Sat… Eyes ₹ 30 cr+ weekend, which is EXCELLENT for a film starring newcomers… Fri 8.71 cr, Sat 11.04 cr. The film is doing better in the western regions than in the northern regions. The collections from Delhi and Punjab are not very exciting; other regions are also average or average+. So, the lifetime collection will heavily depend on Maharashtra and Gujarat.
