Deepika Padukone’s latest release Chhapaak had a below-par opening on Friday. The film has been released on limited screens and is facing competition from Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji and Rajnikanth’s Darbaar. The opening collection got affected because of Deepika’s visit to the JNU to support “Tukde Tukde Gang”. The film is mainly for the multiplex, but it failed to attract its target audience. Congress workers distributed free tickets in MP and the film was declared tax-free in all Congress-ruled states. Despite all these dramas and excellent ratings from critics, it seems that the film will falter after the first weekend. The weekend collection may also remain below 20 crores.
Chhapaak is a drama film directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film is based on the real-life story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. It stars Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey in lead roles and was released in theatres on 10 January 2020 in India.
