After a poor opening on Friday, Irrfan Khan’s Blackmail enjoyed a decent jump in the collection over the weekend. The collection of the movie in the first weekend is along the lines of Irrfan’s previous HIT Hindi Medium, however, the latter had an excellent word of mouth publicity. Also, the number of screens for Blackmail is more than that for Hindi Medium. As per the box office reports, the film collected only 11.22 crores in first three days. The daily collection of the film in its first week is as follows: Fri 2.81 cr, Sat 3.85 cr, Sun 4.56 cr.
#Blackमेल puts up DECENT NUMBERS in its opening weekend… The BO performance is similar to #HindiMedium [₹ 12.56 cr], although that film had a lower screen count… Weekdays are crucial… Fri 2.81 cr, Sat 3.85 cr, Sun 4.56 cr. Total: ₹ 11.22 cr. India biz.

The film needs to stay steady during weekdays to post a decent total in the first week. But looking at the current trend, it seems that Blackmail may not be able to repeat the success story of Hindi Medium and the lifetime collection will be less than 30 crores. The film has a low budget of around 18-19 crore including PA, so the makers are not going to lose anything in this venture.
