Akshay Kumar’s latest movie Bachchhan Paandey had a good start at the Indian box office. Despite facing tough competition from The Kashmir Files, the film managed to get a double-digit opening. The advance booking for the movie was very minimal, but spot booking in some regions helped it post a decent total on its first Friday at the ticket windows. The film is a typical Bollywood masala entertainer, so it can work in mass centers. However, it has a very slim chance to score a century at the box office. The following week it will lose a large chunk of screens to the new release RRR, a Rajamouli movie. The makers might not have expected that The Kashmir Files would bring a tsunami to the box office, and now they are stuck with a wrong release date. Since the movie features big names, there is no possibility that the makers can make even recover the cost. It is bound to be a massive loss for makers. As per our estimate, the film should collect 40-45 crores on the weekend and 70-80 crores in its lifetime.
Bachchhan Paandey is a Bollywood action comedy film directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Arshad Warsi in lead roles. It is a remake of the 2014 Tamil film Jigarthanda which was inspired by the 2006 South Korean movie A Dirty Carnival. The film was released theatrically on 18 March 2022.
