Sriram Raghavan directorial Andhadhun showed excellent trending in the first weekend. Live several other content-based films released this year, Andhadun gathered momentum after a dull opening. Such films always rely on the word of mouth publicity because they do not feature any big name.
As per the box office reports, Andhadun earned 7.20 crore on first Sunday to take its total domestic box office collection to 15 crore after three days. Considering the fact that the film had collected less than 3 crore on Friday, the first-weekend collection is extremely good. Also, the film is not a typical Bollywood masala film and has its own target audience. It has several competitors at the ticket windows; steady collection during weekdays will make it a profitable venture for the makers.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collection of the movie on twitter. “#AndhaDhun Fri 2.70 cr, Sat 5.10 cr, Sun 7.20 cr. Total: ₹ 15 cr. India biz. Growth in biz… Sat [vis-à-vis Fri]: 88.89% Sun [vis-à-vis Sat]: 41.18% EXCELLENT TRENDING.”, he wrote.
The box office collection of AndhaDhun is as follows:
Friday (Day 1): ₹ 2.70 cr
Saturday (Day 2): ₹ 5.10 cr
Sunday (Day 3): ₹ 7.20 cr
Total: ₹ 15 cr
Another release of the week, LoveYatri, failed to get the attention of moviegoers. Although the film enjoyed growth on both Saturday and Sunday, the daily collection was less than 3 crore. As per the box office reports, the film earned 2.90 crore on first Sunday to take its total domestic box office collection to 7 crore after three days. It worked only in Gujarat and failed almost everywhere. A poor weekend is not a good sign for the movie in the long run. It will continue to struggle during weekdays and the lifetime collection may fall below 15 crore.
The box office collection of LoveYatri is as follows
Friday (Day 1): ₹ 1.95 cr
Saturday (Day 2): ₹ 2.15 cr
Sunday (Day 3): ₹ 2.90 cr
Total: ₹ 7 cr
