Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, and Amy Jackson starrer 2.0 started on a good note in the domestic market. Theaters in South India witnessed over 90% occupancy whereas theaters in Hindi regions enjoyed 45-60% occupancy despite a non-holiday release. However, the collection got affected by a few crores because of the midweek release. A normal Friday release would have pushed the opening numbers to a greater height.
As per the box office reports, the film (Hindi version) earned about 20.25 crores on its opening day. The big multiplexes were not up to the mark because it was a working day. Both critics and moviegoers have given thumbs up to the movie, so the collection on Saturday and Sunday may cross 30 crore. 2.0 has the potential to become the biggest hit of Akshay Kumar. If it could score a century in its first weekend, it might go past 200 crore. But box office is totally unpredictable, so nothing can be guessed right now. Also, 2.0 cannot be compared with the mega-hit Bahubali 2 and there is no chance that it will even get closer to BB2.
Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collection of the film on Twitter. “Non-holiday release… Non-festival period… Yet, #2Point0 takes a SUPER START… Keeping in mind the fact that it’s a dubbed film + advance bookings opened very late, the biz is STRONG… Thu ₹ 20.25 cr. India biz. Note: HINDI version.“, he wrote.
The box office collection of 2.0 is as follows:
Thursday (Day 1): ₹ 20.25 Cr
Total: ₹ 20.25 cr
2.0 Hindi collection should be 150-175 crore. But if it picks up on Sat and Sun, 200 crore is possible
